फायदे
5Spinal Erectors(strengthening)
These long, deep muscles running parallel to your spine (erector spinae) are the primary movers in Ardha Salabhasana. As you lift the leg, they engage concentrically to extend the lumbar spine, building essential strength that supports good posture and protects against injury. This action awakens the core intelligence of your back body, encouraging it to hold itself with strength and integrity rather than relying on external support. Through consistent practice, these muscles gain endurance, contributing to a feeling of effortless uprightness and reducing chronic lower back fatigue.
Buttock Muscles(strengthening)
The largest muscle of your buttocks (gluteus maximus) plays a crucial role in lifting the leg and extending the hip in this pose. Activating these muscles powerfully yet intelligently helps to stabilize the pelvis and sacrum, preventing undue strain on the lower back. This engagement creates a strong, supportive foundation for the spine, allowing the backbend to originate safely from the hips rather than hyper-extending the lumbar spine. Yogically, strong glutes help root the lower body, providing a sense of grounding and stability that supports the upward lift of the spine.
Back of Thighs(strengthening)
The muscles along the back of your thigh (hamstrings) work in concert with the glutes to extend the hip and lift the leg off the floor. While often associated with stretching, here they are strengthening isometrically and concentrically, building power in the posterior chain. This coordinated action helps to distribute the effort of lifting evenly across the hip and leg, preventing isolated strain in the lower back. Cultivating strength in the hamstrings through such actions helps to balance the body's muscular forces, promoting better alignment and energetic flow in the lower limbs.

सावधानियाँ
3Pregnancy
Deep twists, abdominal compression, and lying flat on the back can restrict blood flow or cause discomfort as pregnancy progresses.
Widen the stance, avoid deep abdominal compression and twists, and consult a qualified prenatal yoga teacher.
Recent Surgery
Surgical wounds and healing tissues need time before being subjected to the mechanical stress of yoga postures.
Wait for full medical clearance from your surgeon; begin with gentle breath work and progress only as healing allows.
Back Injury / Back Pain
Spinal flexion, extension, or rotation under load can compress vertebral discs or strain the paraspinal muscles.
Limit the depth of the backbend, engage the core actively before moving, and avoid any movement that creates pinching in the lumbar spine.
